New Year Resolutions Revisited

In Fairview Park, Quezon City (in fairness), this is THE FIRST TIME I revisited my New Year's Resolutions. As in. E-V-E-R. I just usually make new ones the following year or just make new ones whenever I feel like doing so. Hahaha!

** kaba-kaba **

Wondering which of these resolutions I was able to fulfill, keep, neglect or just complete forget?  Let's do a check then.

** clammy ahnds **
** insert anxious music here **

RESOLUTIONS:
1. EAT MORE HEALTHY FOOD -- Check!!!! Yehessss, I just started with the lifestyle program with Dr. JMC. I hope to keep this FOR LIFE. O ha!
2. MOVE TO BE MORE FIT -- Oh crap! Too tamad! My geeeehd!
3. SLEEP MORE -- Mej. Mej oo, mej hindi. Haha!
4. FORGIVE A GRUDGE -- A must do. But I still can't do until now. Hay, Lord, HELP talaga!
5. TAKE A COURSE -- I have decided. MBA. I just don't know when I will start. And yes, driving pala. Important.
6. FIX MY ROOM -- Check!!!! Uhuh, I did fix my room. With lots loads of help from Mom and Aling Diding. Haha!
7. START SAVING AND KEEP IT INTACT -- Major check!!!! Thanks to Edward for this. He really makes me save money. He gets masungit if I don't. Hehe.
8. GO GREEN -- Check! Easy-peasy since everywhere I go now does this. If not eco-bag, I use paper bag or boxes. I only use plastic bags if it's wet merchandise.
9. DO THE 7 FAITH HABITS -- Check but not consistent nor conscious. Must improve!

RETENTIONS:
1. BE HAPPY -- Oh yes yes yes naman! =)
2. PAY IT FORWARD / EXPRESS MORE GRATITUDE -- Comes naturally now. So check din!
3. READ FOR PLEASURE -- I still do. Not much free time any more but I still get to read.
4. BITCH IT OUT WHEN SOMEONE DESERVES IT -- Ay oo naman! Bonggang-bongga!
5. SERVE GOD -- I have to do better on my attendance. Lord, sustain my heart and rekindle my commitment.

All these I do to be a better person.
All these I do to be a better me.
All these I do to be a better steward of God.

All these are for You, Lord.
Please give me strength, endurance, patience, faith and strong will.
Amen.

Will check again sometime September or October! =)

When God Says It

It has been my habit to check everyday what God has to say to me. Facebook has this nice app called God Wants You To Know. I know it just spews out a random message for me, but amazingly, it is almost always what I need to hear.

Like for instance, today.

For weeks now I have been struggling with haters, with my self-bout for success. I want to prove my worth to others, heck, even to myself. I want to be ahead of everything and everyone, or something like that.

Then this RANDOM message was sent to me:

God Wants Me To Know

Random, alright, but just what I need to know.

You are an amazing God. Kahit facebook app andun ka. Panalo.

Prophets of a Future Not Our Own

Sharing to you a prayer I learned from my boss.

Archbishop Oscar Romero Prayer: A Step Along the Way
by Bishop Ken Untener of Saginaw

It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view.
The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is even beyond our vision.
We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise that is God's work.

Nothing we do is complete, which is a way of saying that the Kingdom always lies beyond us.
No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No program accomplishes the Church's mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that.
This enables us to do something, and to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.

This prayer was composed by Bishop Ken Untener of Saginaw, drafted for a homily by Card. John Dearden in Nov. 1979 for a celebration of departed priests. As a reflection on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Bishop Romero, Bishop Untener included in a reflection book a passage titled "The mystery of the Romero Prayer." The mystery is that the words of the prayer are attributed to Oscar Romero, but they were never spoken by him.

I got this from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops website.

Thanks for sharing this, Dr. Yap. Fit indeed to start the meeting of the group who decides the future of the Ateneo doctor.

It Just Won't Stop

The tears just don't want to stop falling. Tuluy-tuloy lang sa pagbagsak.Hay.

Been so busy these past weeks. Crazy work season. OVERLY crazy work season. Least I wanna do is hurt you. Or shut you out. I love you with all of me. Hurts that I hurt you.

Lord, help.

And the tears, they're still here.

ICE CREAM FIX JAPANESE-STYLE

Everyone who knows me well, knows that my ultimate stress cure is ice cream.

Anticipating stress the following day, I had to have my fix -- my Mochi fix. Been craving for it for so long! I tried their durian and avocado. Yummm!!!

Mochiko is the best I've tasted. The gummy is not so sticky. The ice cream is just right to the bite. The thick part of the gummy-fold at the bottom is not too tough to eat as well. It's such a delight! Or baka adik lang talaga ako sa ice cream. Hihihi.

Try it! Got my fix from Mochiko in Mezza Norte, UP-Ayala Technohub (Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 6pm to 3am). Happy eating!

POST-CHRISTMAS GIFT-GIVING

Edward and I have not made up our minds on what gifts to give each other until after Christmas was over.

Since we had the freedom to choose, I guess we were both taking the time to think of what we really wanted. Actually that was just me. Edward was thinking of what he really needed. I was thinking of a gift na hindi lang basta gift. I want something na pag hiniling ko, I will really be glad that I asked for it. Edward's gift, he wanted, should be useful. I was thinking of a book or bag, he was thinking of car tools and camping mat. I was thinking of something fun, he was thinking of something practical. How funny it is to see how much we are so different, yet we think we have so much in common! Haha!

Some more days passed with me having no idea of what I want. Edward was once decided to get the tools but changed his mind to getting the camping mat instead. He needed it for work he said. I didn't know what I wanted, heck, even what I needed. Then it hit me!!! I want a new game!!! I was playing Taboo with my choirmates and boom! I knew I wanted something to add to my collection of games. A Pinoy Taboo perhaps, I'm really not sure. I'm only definite I wanted a new game. Bahala na kung ano, may Hobbes and Landes naman na pwedeng pagpilian. Hehehe.

No Hobbes and Landes happened. It was Toy Kingdom. No Pinoy Taboo chosen. It was... GUESSTURES!!!!! I was torn between the two actually, but I felt that I will regret not getting Guesstures more than not getting Pinoy Taboo.

So happy here with my gift! Thanks so much, baby!!!
